I met the famous and fabulous DJ Stretch Armstrong today

As tweeted at 8:21a.m. on June 4th,legendary DJ Stretch Armstrong is back in his native New York. Here in full effect on East Village Radio, Stretch is spinning an amazing set packed with classic hip hop hits and house gold in perfect form.
Making his debut on Columbia University’s radio station, 89.9, in 1990, he transformed the public output of under the radar hip-hop. He worked alongside comic relief and hype man Bobby Bobbito. His reputation gained him a spot on Hot 97, giving him the opportunity to feature and interview current hip hop icons before their names had ever been heard; the likes of Redman, Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, Busta Rhymes, the list goes on. Way ahead of the game, he has been mixing tracks in the style of the now popular “mash-ups” since the ‘90s, combining rap, alternative, house, or whatever vinyl he could get his hands on.
Today he works as a DJ traveling the world, gracing the stages of many a booth and countless parties. He also runs elctro/house label, Plant Music. His artists include DJs Tittsworth, Clubfeet, and the Glass, to name a few.
We are previewing the show here in the office and every one of us is getting down to this man’s flawless mix. The show is available to stream on the website and we invite you to listen. Fortunately for us all, a regular weekly two hour slot is in sights for the notorious Stretch, date to be disclosed, and he invites you to suggest a title for it. You can email him at stretcha@gmail.com or get him on his twitter, Stretch Army.
