This is with out a doubt the best and most realistic boxing movie ever, and one of
John Huston's most complex and subtle movies. Everything in this film from the script to the cinematography is near perfection. What truly stands out though are the performances by the three main actors. Jeff Bridges is excellent as an up and coming young boxer, and Susan Tyrell, who won an oscar for Fat City, is amazing. But the real reason to see this film is for the perfect performance that
Stacy Keach delivers as aging boxer and skidrow alchohlic Tully.
